Business Advocacy Group Takes Steps To Defend Against Cyber Crime

Oklahoma City, OK and Austin, Texas – June 6, 2006 – The State Chamber of Oklahoma today announced they have signed an exclusive agreement with Mirage Networks, a network security company based in Austin, Texas, to provide a comprehensive data theft defense system for its network. The decision comes in response to a recent surge of cyber crime nationally and in Oklahoma.

“We haven’t had any incidents yet, but as Oklahoman’s only business lobbying organization, we exchange information on a daily basis with businesses of all types and sizes at the state and federal levels,” said Dick Rush, president and CEO of The State Chamber. “With the upward trend of paperless business communications and increases in internet crime, we felt that now was the time to protect ourselves and our members against current and emerging threats. We have been very impressed with Mirage and have every confidence in their ability to protect our network.”

According to Greg Stock, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Mirage Networks, The State Chamber needed a strong defense for its network that put minimal strain on IT resources and required little or no interaction from end-users.

”Our appliances will defend their interior network against such threats as worm outbreaks and day-zero attacks without updates of signatures or endpoint agents,” Stock said. “On-entry risk assessment of all devices seeking network access, policy enforcement, identification of rogue routers and access points, and surgical, safe quarantining are just a few of the precautions we’re taking for their system.”
