Strategic Partnership Provides Endpoint Control to Japanese Market
Austin, TX – November 18, 2004 – Mirage Networks, Inc., developers of award-winning technology uniquely designed to protect the network interior, today announced that Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions, Inc. (MBSD), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: MITSY), and Mirage Networks have entered into a distribution agreement to provide Mirage Networks’ CounterPoint™ endpoint control solution for interior network defense in the Japanese market. MBSD is targeting revenues of approximately ¥1 Billion Yen (US $9.5 Million) by the end of fiscal year 2005.
"In Japan, there has been a major push to find countermeasures to combat network attacks that severely damage enterprise interior networks,” said Kazuhiro Nomura, President & CEO, MBSD. “With Mirage Networks, we are able to provide a revolutionary solution to protect important corporate assets from attacks that have continued to evade existing technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems."
CounterPoint endpoint control is a unique approach to interior security that gives IT departments the ability to stop threats and unauthorized endpoints that consistently bypass existing perimeter and host-based security barriers. Entirely network-based, the solution watches every endpoint as it enters the network; uses behavioral rules to detect threat activity; then actively contains the traffic source, effectively blocking it from the network and preventing any malicious code from spreading. Controlling threats at their source has the advantage of only affecting the offending endpoint – the rest of the network continues to work as normal.
Key attributes of Mirage Networks’ CounterPoint solution include:
- Day-zero protection through behavioral algorithm technology
- No network re-architecture through innovative signature-less, agent-less, out-of-band deployment
- Industry’s only Layer-2 threat detection and mitigation solution deployed at the access/distribution layer
“We are very pleased to have entered into a partnership with MBSD, whose strong technical knowledge and broad distribution capabilities have made them the leader in the Japanese information security space”, said Toney Jennings, Mirage Networks’ President & CEO. “The network interior has become the primary battleground for securing business communications across the globe and CounterPoint is unmatched in its defense capabilities.”
