Texas’ Third Largest School District Leverages Patented NAC Solution to Control Rogue Network Devices
Austin, TX – January 25, 2008 – Mirage Networks, developer of the only patented, full-cycle Network Access
Control (NAC) solution, today announced that Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston has
deployed Mirage to protect its infrastructure from unknown and out-of-policy endpoints.
“With the Mirage solution I have saved countless hours trying to identify and isolate unapproved machines from
our network,” said Frederick Brenz, network and telecom manager for Cypress Fairbanks ISD. “Before Mirage,
we would dispatch an IT tech to a school who would need to search classrooms, labs, and offices to root out
each unauthorized device, which could take days. Our campus is spread out over a large geographic area in
Houston, so this is an important issue that the Mirage solution has resolved.”
Mirage Networks safeguards networks from threats by providing full-cycle Network Access Control. Mirage’s
NAC technology can effectively ensure network compliance by allowing only authorized endpoints to access the
network and monitoring all network traffic, all the time. Mirage is a network-based solution that requires no
agent software, works in any infrastructure, and deploys “virtually inline.”
“Cypress Fairbanks ISD is devoted to creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for its students,”
said Greg Stock, president and CEO of Mirage Networks. “As the district continues to evolve its network
infrastructure, it requires a NAC solution that can handle whatever technology advances may be added in the
future. Effectively managing rogue endpoints has been part of our value proposition from the start.”
