California School District Deploys Mirage to Secure Wireless Network

Palo Alto USD to Protect Network with Mirage NAC Solution

Austin, TX – February 18, 2007 – Mirage Networks, developer of the only patented Network Access Control (NAC) solution, today announced that Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) has selected the Mirage NAC solution to protect its network from threats that unmanaged endpoints can introduce. PAUSD, located in Silicon Valley, serves a high tech community and is located near Stanford University, one of the world's leading universities.

PAUSD has a progressive network infrastructure designed for students and staff use by 18 school sites and the district office. The district’s goal is to provide a reliable, secure and affordable infrastructure. It is critical that the network infrastructure be a sound and sustainable design. Mirage’s powerful system allows the solution to monitor all access points and alert IT staff of possible intrusions.

“Data management is core to the district’s work,” said Mark Wei, network administrator for PAUSD. “Mirage’s NAC solution controls access on our wireless network and easily integrates with an Active Directory infrastructure.”

Mirage safeguards networks from threats by providing full-cycle Network Access Control. Its technology effectively enables maximum network performance by controlling network access, monitoring network behavior, isolating non-compliant endpoints, and providing self-remediation capabilities. Mirage’s network-based solution requires no agent software, deploys “virtually inline,” and works in any environment. Mirage’s access management capabilities are of particular use to institutions seeking to shield sensitive data both to maintain regulatory compliance with standards such as FERPA and to protect students.

“We’re excited to add Palo Alto USD to our growing number of educational customers,” said Greg Stock, president and CEO of Mirage Networks. “We are committed to their success and to providing them the easiest and most effective solution for controlling network access, maximizing network uptime, and enforcing security policy across every device on their network.”
