Austin, TX – March 20, 2008 – Mirage Networks, developer of the only patented Network Access Control
(NAC) solution, today announced that its president and CEO, Greg Stock, has received the Distinguished
Achievement Award from Penn State’s Smeal College of Business. This award honors Penn State alumni
whose career achievements have brought distinction to the Smeal College, and whose commitment of
time, talent, and resources has been key to enhancing the prestige of the College.
Greg Stock joined Mirage Networks in 2003 and over the past 5 years has propelled it to one of the
leading providers of network security solutions. Under Greg's guidance, Mirage has amassed more than
500 customers across 36 countries. Prior to Mirage, Greg helped drive Global Trade Management
pioneer, Vastera, to the market leading position with more than ten times the revenues of its nearest
competitor. Stock was instrumental in the company's successful initial public offering in September 2000.
Prior to Vastera, Stock had a six-year tenure with Supply Chain Management leader, Manugistics, as he
helped the company grow to nearly $200M in revenues and landed them in China and Australia. Stock
began his software career at IBM Corporation in Somers, New York and Rochester, Minnesota.
“Greg Stock has always been dedicated to Penn State, as a student, as an active alumnus, and as a good
friend of Smeal,” said James Thomas, Dean of the Smeal College of Business. “He's always tried to make a
difference and there is no better attribute than that for earning a ‘distinguished achievement’ accolade.
We are all very proud of him.”
In 1996, Stock was named Penn State’s Emerging Logistics Professional Award winner for industry
excellence, leadership, and community service in the field of Supply Chain Management. He was a
featured speaker at Penn State’s Hadley Waters Logistics Symposium in 1995 and 2000. He was also a
featured speaker at the Logistics Leaders Forum at Penn State in 2001. Greg has also been a guest
professor in the MBA Program’s Business Strategy class.
“Whenever Greg is a guest speaker in my MBA classes, students invariably rave about him—his strategic
instincts, leadership insights, values, and energy”, states Don Hambrick, Smeal Chaired Professor of
Management. “They also feel great pride in knowing that he’s one of us—a Smeal alumni. So, it’s very
fitting that Greg is receiving this lustrous award from Smeal.”
“I am truly honored to receive this award,” said Greg Stock, president and CEO of Mirage Networks.
“The lessons that I learned as a student at Penn State continue to serve me in my career and in my life on
a daily basis.”
Stock still holds the record as the longest tenured Drum Major in Penn State’s history. He performed the
trademark “flip” during five college football seasons that included three National Championships games
and two Penn State National Championships. In 1997, the Stock Family created the Gregory and Robert
Stock Endowed Scholarship to provide financial aid to the Penn State Drum Major.
